The Female Entrepreneur

Like never ,females are gradually becoming part of the entrepreneurial times but from times immemorial, women have been in business.
For any mother, there is enormous financial difference being an employee and being self-employed because of responsibilities that need her ample presence.
Looking at the earning bracket in the economy today, it can actually sustain little or nothing coupled with the stress involved as an employee.
I believe the solution for a wife and a mother is to be part of a family business or go into business herself.
The home-based business allows her to spend quality time with the home and with the children as well as a possibility for unlimited income.
In addition to lifestyle, flexibility and income potential, she can have time for herself and discover new things that seemed so disillusioning and unattainable.
In the past, women were bound to just sewing ,child care and maid services but today female business owners are successful at photography, arts, real estate, financial institutions, writing, farming.
The book of Proverbs gives a beautiful illustration of a self-employed wife. Proverbs 31:10-31
She is industrious and had chains of business, multiple streams of income, if I am permitted to say that.
a.       Her first business is in the area of milling wool and flax. She has an eye for value, searches for sources of raw materials she can buy wholesale and produce fabric for resale. She carefully collects and gathers and cares for the wool and flax that she will use in making clothes for her household and perhaps for others as well.
Prov 31: 13 She selects wool and flax
   and works with eager hands.
14 She is like the merchant ships,
   bringing her food from afar
19 In her hand she holds the distaff
   and grasps the spindle with her fingers.
b.      She is involved in time management because she knows it is an ideal time to spend with the Lord in quiet meditation and prayer, starting the day with Him and  taking steps to ensure her family is not neglected.
 Prov 31: 15 She gets up while it is still night;
   she provides food for her family
   and portions for her female servants

c.       From her profits in the milling business, she ventures into real estate and agricultural business and because she puts her heart to work, she does not have to borrow. She has a plan for her family and she carefully thinks about what she needs.
Prov 31: 16 She considers a field and buys it;
   out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.
17 She sets about her work vigorously;
   her arms are strong for her tasks.
d.      She is very detailed , reviewing her profit and loss statement, does not mix things up.
Prov 31: 18 She sees that her trading is profitable,
   and her lamp does not go out at night.

e.      She is a giver and willing to help thereby involving God in her finances.
Prov 31: 20 She opens her arms to the poor
   and extends her hands to the needy.
f.        She prepares ahead and diligent .
Prov. 31: 21 When it snows, she has no fear for her household for all of them are clothed in scarlet.

g.       She and her home reflects success and equally directs some attention to home decoration and is a strong contributing factor to the respect and honor her husband receives.
Prov 31: 22 She makes coverings for her bed;
   she is clothed in fine linen and purple.
23 Her husband is respected at the city gate,
   where he takes his seat among the elders of the land.

h.      She is into retail garments. Her decorum reflects a rare personal power and confidence that gives no room for fear and she does have a sense of humor.
Prov.31: 24 She makes linen garments and sells them,
   and supplies the merchants with sashes.
25 She is clothed with strength and dignity;
   she can laugh at the days to come.

i.         As accomplished as she is, she still ventures into another, the seminar business.What comes out of the mouth is an indication of what is in the heart. She has learnt how to condition her speech because it  reveals our heart.  Out of a wise heart come wise words.  Out of a kind heart come kind words.  Out of a loving heart come loving words.
 Prov. 31: 26 She speaks with wisdom,
   and faithful instruction is on her tongue.

j.        She is a wise manager of her businesses and household, stays energetically involved, planning , directing for future growth and expansion.
Prov 31: 27 She watches over the affairs of her household
   and does not eat the bread of idleness.

k.       She is honored by her family and loved.
 Prov 31: 28 Her children arise and call her blessed;
   her husband also, and he praises her:
29 “Many women do noble things,
   but you surpass them all.”
30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
   but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.
l.         She is adorned with accolades which is well deserved
Prov 31: 31 Honor her for all that her hands have done,
   and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.
What an outstanding role model. I am sure that the wives and mothers of today are inspired by this outstanding example because the female entrepreneurs are booming today
Female readers, let Proverbs 31 be our inspiration and take that rightful place in being a contributor today.
